Singing for breathing in fine voice!

Today we recorded a short exert from Joanna Foster's composition for the Breathe Project. The Royal Brompton Singing for Breathing group under the leadership of Joanna Foster and Katie Rose Window performed a rousing round of breathing gestures which I will work on representing visually in collaboration with Jason Tinsley.

The joy of it all coming together: Breathe Exhibition installed

Over the last few days George Mogg, Karen Taylor, Annabelle Bond, Emma and I have installed the outcomes of the work with the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospital NHS trust collaborative Breathe project. We were supported by many people behind the scenes including the Inplas team, Bespoke Framing and Paz and Pat of the Estates team. A big thank you to all involved not least of all the patients  and staff who have contributed their breath to generate visual outcomes of the project. Some of the pictures below illustrate some of the highlights of the installation process. The exhibition opens tomorrow, September 15th at 9am and I look forward to taking Joanna Foster, Katie Rose Window and the Royal Brompton Singing for Breathing Group around it tomorrow!

Getting the prints ready to send out to the Breathe workshop participants

Its been an exciting day unwrapping work and fittings for the exhibition installation next week and getting the photos packed up for the participants of the Breathe workshop. Receiving the images has given Curator George Mogg and I some extra food for thought for planning the installation.

Breathe work featured on Bespoke Blog

I'm delighted that the work of the Breathe Project is currently being featured on Bespoke Framing's blog. Alex at Bespoke handles all my challenging requirements with regard to showing what is quite often ephemeral and fragile work, and the exhibition at the Royal Brompton will be no exemption to this where he mounted Expire, tiny gessoed blocks with unfixed breath drawings into box frames on stacks of glass squares so that they appear to float in the box. Thank you Alex and Alison for your professionalism and expertise! The bespoke blog can be read at the following link:
